Three country shopping mall | Weil am Rhein
In Weil am Rhein, close to the border between France, Switzerland and Germany, a 63,000 m2 Three Country Shopping Mall with a three-storey car park and fitness centre is being created.
A new tram line from Basel should entice visitors from Switzerland to come and shop in Germany. Around the building, public spaces are created for events and relaxation.
Elegant and airy
In cooperation with CEMAGG GmbH, the Düsseldorf-based architecture firm Chapman Taylor designed a building with elegant curves. The building has glass walls all around, partly clad with an gold-coloured cut-out aluminium.
A pattern of circles has been punched out of the aluminium, ensuring that sufficient daylight can flow in, and the colour of the material gives the whole a chic appearance.
From drawing to completion
Sorba is responsible for the engineering, planning, delivery and installation of the Alpolic wall cladding, an aluminium composite in the colour Schapire Gold Metallic. Sorba is also responsible for the substructure of this wall cladding.
Completion is expected in the autumn of 2022.
