Rising Iconic Oosterdokseiland Amsterdam with “The Perfect Finish””

Oosterdokseiland Amsterdam, an oasis of breathtaking views, modern architecture, excellent parking facilities and optimal accessibility, is emerging as a new and unique piece of city in the bustling heart of the city centre. This architectural masterpiece is taking shape through the expert hands of Sorba, who, commissioned by Oosterdokseiland Ontwikkeling Amsterdam C.V., is handling the (finishing) construction of the Booking.com campus and the adjacent façade of the exclusive apartment building, featuring 42 ODE Apartments. UNStudio has taken on the design of this mixed-use building, while the structural work will be realised by Züblin Nederland BV.

The Ceramic Splendour of the Booking.com Campus

For the facade of the Booking.com campus, Sorba is responsible for cladding horizontal sections and the exterior ceiling with around 14,000 ceramic elements, accounting for an impressive 2,800m². The eaves are elegantly finished in powder-coated aluminium, while on the north side above Oosterdoksstraat an Alpolic (aluminium composite) exterior ceiling adorns the building.

Luxury on the south side

On the south side of Oosterdokseiland, 42 exclusive flats, the ODE Apartments, will rise. Sorba is responsible for the development, delivery and assembly of the timber frame construction elements (HSB), facades with French balconies, prefabricated balconies with glass balustrade, and the whole will be completed with approximately 1400m² of Alpolic (aluminium composite) facade cladding.

Tight Planning for Perfection

Sorba’s engineers are working closely with ancillary contractors, external consultants and suppliers on the detailed engineering, building physics and structural calculations. Production started in the second half of 2020, with the first components being assembled in early 2021. The building was completed by the end of 2022 and opened in June 2023.
