Grasblau: a sustainable oasis in the heart of Berlin
In Berlin’s vibrant Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district stands grasblau: a modern and sustainable office building that shows what the future of work can look like. Developed by the CA Immo Group and designed by HPP Architects, the building combines smart technology, an eye for the environment and attention to the well-being of its users. Sorba Projects made a significant contribution to the facade – and thus to the building’s appearance and sustainability.
Sustainability from the start
At grasblau, sustainability is not an afterthought, but the starting point. The building is constructed from environmentally friendly materials, runs entirely on green electricity and is connected to the district heating network. Mobility has also been taken into account: bicycle racks, showers and a location close to public transport make sustainable travel attractive. Tenants are also actively involved in making their working practices more sustainable through green leases.
Attention to people
A healthy building contributes to healthy people. Grasblau is designed with comfort, light and air in mind. Large windows bring daylight into the workspaces, balconies provide outdoor space, and all materials have been carefully chosen with the indoor climate in mind. The surroundings help: nearby parks and the Landwehr Canal provide a pleasant balance between work and relaxation. Grasblau is in the running for WELL Core & Shell certification, which focuses on the well-being of users.
Architecture with vision
The building is open and bright. The glass facade reflects the city’s greenery and enhances the connection between inside and out. Inside, a large atrium forms the heart of the building, providing space for meeting and collaboration. Offices can be flexibly partitioned and the roof terrace offers both views and relaxation.
The role of Sorba Projects
Sorba Projects was responsible for the grass-blue façade finish. Using powder-coated aluminium in RAL 7042 matte and a professional finish, Sorba contributed to the appearance and sustainability of the building. The result is a façade that is not only beautiful, but will last for years and contribute to the comfort of the interior. The collaboration between Sorba and the other parties shows what is possible when expertise and ambition come together.
The perfect finish
Grasblau is more than just an office building. It is an example of what sustainable, healthy and intelligent construction looks like in practice. With a strong vision, good collaboration and attention to detail, it shows what the new standard can be. Sorba Projects is proud to have contributed to this special project – a building that literally and figuratively looks ahead.
