Renovation of Stadhuisplein in Rotterdam: modernisation with high-quality façade solutions
Stadhuisplein in Rotterdam, an iconic urban square linking Coolsingel with Lijnbaan, is undergoing a major transformation. The building at Stadhuisplein 9–23 is being completely redeveloped to house a combination of hospitality venues at ground level and office space on the upper floors. This renovation will not only modernise the building but also give the square itself a livelier and more attractive appearance. Large windows and a transparent ground floor create better interaction between the square and the interior, thereby enhancing the urban dynamism.
From engineering to completion
Sorba plays a central role in this project through the supply and installation of the new Dekton cladding. The panels, in the colour Zenith KC, are assembled at the factory in Winterswijk into horizontal and vertical cladding strips. These cladding strips are concealed within a durable aluminium substructure, creating a sleek and high-quality finish. Sorba handles the entire process: from engineering and assembly to installation.
Sustainability and aesthetics go hand in hand
The renovation combines design and sustainability. The new façade panels are low-maintenance and water-repellent, whilst the plinth and windows provide light, views and interaction with the surroundings. Sorba’s technical solutions make it possible to combine high-quality materials with practical installation, ensuring the façade is both visually appealing and functional.
The perfect finish
This redevelopment will transform Stadhuisplein into a place where people enjoy spending time and working. Sorba’s contribution demonstrates how high-quality façade solutions can enhance both a building and the urban environment.
